Italy is one of the largest wine producers in the world. With 850,000 hectares of vineyards and annually Italy produces 49 million hectoliters of wine per year. The mountains in Italy determine the landscape: The Alps in the northwest and the Dolomites in the northeast. The country also has a divided climate.
Wine is produced in every part of Italy. The country is divided into 20 different wine regions, which in turn can be divided into smaller regions. Most wine comes from the regions: Sicily, Apulia, Veneto, Emilia Romagna.
